AIA Australia has recently updated its Priority Protection life insurance suite, introducing changes designed to simplify discounts, enhance policy clarity, and support premium affordability.
These enhancements, effective from 9 November 2025, reflect AIA's commitment to providing value-driven solutions for policyholders.

The key updates focus on three main areas: the Healthier Life Reward incentive, AIA Vitality discounts, and updated policy discounts. Notably, the Healthier Life Reward now offers new clients with a Body Mass Index (BMI) in the expanded healthy range of 18-28 an 8% lifetime discount on lump sum policies. To retain this discount, policyholders must maintain their AIA Vitality membership, encouraging ongoing engagement with health and wellness activities.

Additionally, clients now receive a 10% initial discount on new lump sum and income protection policies through the AIA Vitality program. Maintaining a silver status within the Vitality program restores the full 10% discount, promoting sustained participation in health-improving behaviours. The Health Check Discount offers a 5% initial discount for lump sum and income protection policies, further incentivising proactive health management.

To support premium affordability, AIA has extended the Initial Selection Discount (ISD) to three years, starting at 15% and reducing by 5% annually before ending in year four. Clients opting out of the ISD automatically receive a 2% lifetime policy discount. Bundling discounts have also been revised, with a 4% discount for bundling all lump sum policies and a 10% discount for bundling one or more lump sum policies with income protection coverage.

Beyond discounts, AIA has implemented several policy improvements. The Financial Planning Benefit has increased from $3,000 to $5,000, providing additional support for policyholders seeking professional financial advice. The Crisis Cardiac Arrest definition now includes pulseless electrical activity (PEA) and pulseless ventricular tachycardia (PVT), ensuring comprehensive coverage for critical health events.

Underwriting updates include improvements in occupation ratings for income protection and the addition of new occupations to research houses, reflecting AIA's responsiveness to the evolving Australian workforce. Additional measures have also been implemented to support policyholders in circumstances of family and domestic violence, demonstrating AIA's commitment to social responsibility.

These enhancements have been informed by feedback from advisers, highlighting AIA's dedication to continuous improvement and customer-centric product development. By simplifying discounts and improving policy clarity, AIA aims to make life insurance more accessible and affordable for Australians, encouraging proactive health management and financial planning.
